What is Somatic Experiencing?
Somatic Experiencing® (SE) - Developed by Dr. Peter Levine is a gentle, body-based approach to working with trauma and chronic stress.
Rather than focusing only on what happened, we pay attention to how your nervous system responded—and what may still be held in the body.
When experiences are overwhelming, the body’s natural survival responses can become interrupted or stuck. This can show up as anxiety, shutdown, tension, or a sense of being disconnected from yourself.
Through Somatic Experiencing, we work slowly and with care, tracking your “felt sense”—the subtle physical sensations in your body. This allows your nervous system to begin completing what it couldn’t at the time, in a way that feels manageable and safe.
There’s no need to relive or retell everything in detail.
Instead, the focus is on supporting your system to find more regulation, more choice, and a greater sense of ease over time.
Like the tiger in the wild, our nervous system is designed to respond, release, and return to balance.
What this helps with…
Your relationships become easier
You stop the anxious-avoidant dance. You can stay present during conflict. You trust your instincts about people.
1
Your body feels like home
This work is particularly powerful for those living with complex physical health problems and chronic illness. Chronic tension releases. Mysterious symptoms improve. You feel genuinely comfortable in your own skin.
2
Your confidence grows from the inside
You stop seeking external validation. You trust your decisions. You know your worth isn't negotiable.
3
You break generational patterns
If you're a parent, you can offer your children the secure attachment you're healing in yourself. If you're planning to have children, you're doing the work now.
4
You find joy again
Whether you're struggling with trauma, anxiety, depression, or feeling stuck in patterns that limit your enjoyment of life, this gentle yet powerful combination of approaches can help you reconnect with the parts of your life that feel out of reach.
